PoE Overlay follows Grinding Gear Games' official third-party tool policy and has done so for over 5 years. While GGG does not officially endorse third-party tools, players have not been penalized for using tools that comply with this policy.
Yes. PoE Overlay is free to use and supported by optional, lightweight ads. You can upgrade to Premium to remove ads, unlock Premium benefits, and support development.
PoE Overlay is designed to have minimal performance impact. Most users do not experience noticeable changes in performance during gameplay.
No. PoE Overlay is developed and maintained by its own team. Overwolf is used as a distribution platform for one version of the app and provides overlay infrastructure, but it is not involved in the development, feature decisions, pricing, or data sources used by PoE Overlay.
Installation & compatibility
The Overwolf and Standalone versions have the same features except Replay. Replay is available only in the Overwolf version. Choose Standalone if you do not want to install Overwolf and do not need Replay; both versions include automatic updates.
Download and run the installer. The standalone version includes an automatic updater, so it stays up to date without manual updates.
No. PoE Overlay supports Windows only. Neither the Overwolf nor Standalone version supports Linux, Steam Deck, or macOS. Linux players can consider Awakened PoE Trade for Path of Exile or Exiled Exchange 2 for Path of Exile 2; compatibility can vary by distribution and Steam Deck setup.
No. PoE Overlay must run on the same machine as the game. Cloud gaming services such as NVIDIA GeForce NOW or Xbox Cloud Gaming do not support third-party overlays.
PoE Overlay vs PoE Overlay II
PoE Overlay supports Path of Exile. PoE Overlay II is built specifically for Path of Exile 2. Each application has its own release cycle and updates tailored to the game it supports.
Price checking & data
Hover over an item and open Evaluate, the in-game price checker, using its configured hotkey. PoE Overlay reads the item details, preselects useful stats, and lets you refine the search before comparing relevant trade listings.
For items outside the Currency Exchange, a machine-learning model trained on real sales estimates the item's value. It does not need to query the trade website first, so individual checks are fast.
In Path of Exile, a rare item can be returned to normal rarity, so a valuable base can retain its crafting value regardless of its current rarity. Path of Exile 2 does not let players reverse a magic or rare item to normal rarity, which makes good normal bases more valuable than comparable magic or rare bases. PoE Overlay accounts for each game's search rules when preparing a base query.
Yes. Higher is not always better in Path of Exile. Hand-tuned rules determine the useful direction for each modifier and apply the appropriate minimum or maximum range automatically.
Prices are estimates, not guaranteed sale prices. Modifier rolls, combinations, demand, and timing can change what a buyer will pay. Compare relevant listings before deciding on a price.
Currency Exchange prices and trade results come from the official Path of Exile trade market. Price predictions for other items come from PoE Overlay's machine-learning models trained on real sales.
Yes. Stash Tracker estimates individual item and stash slot values in both games. Total stash value tracking is available for Path of Exile only.
Account & gameplay
No. PoE Overlay uses secure OAuth through the official Path of Exile website, so you do not enter your account password in the app. You always see which permissions are requested, and the application does not have write access to your account.
Yes. Private leagues are supported. You must connect your Path of Exile account and have at least one character in the private league for it to appear in the league selection.
